Image Shred

Image Shred is an open-source desktop application for editing images, layered documents, animations, and PDF forms. It runs locally on Windows, Linux, and macOS with no account or subscription required.

PDF Tools:
Image Shred can open multi-page PDFs, edit existing form fields, and create new fillable forms.

PDF features include:

- Text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, lists, dropdowns, buttons, and signature fields

- Field values, appearance, validation, formatting, and calculation settings

- Preservation of existing PDF structure through incremental updates

- Digital signing with PKCS#12 certificates and OpenSSL

- Multi-page editing and PDF export

Development Status:

Image Shred is approaching its first stable release, but it has not reached version 1.0 yet. The main editing workflows are functional and covered by an extensive automated test suite, but bugs and incomplete edge cases still exist.

Keep backups of important source files, save ongoing work in the native .ishrd format, and report problems when you encounter them.

The core application works today. Version 1.0 is the point where we intend to call it stable.
